The City of Foster City has partnered with Kiva to bring 0% interest crowdfunded loans and matching loan funds to Foster City small and micro business owners. To qualify for Foster City's Matching Loan Funds, the City, as a Kiva Trustee, must endorse a borrower’s character and determine that the borrower is financially responsible using the following criteria:
  • Verification of business ownership
  • Requirement of a minimum two-year lease agreement with a landlord and/or property ownership
  • Verification of income and debt ratios using data provided by borrower
  • Review business plans
